About the event

Urban Transformation Network, Inc. (UTN), has changed the lives of many young people and adults on the Westside of Chicago. It has been amazing seeing young people who usually eat take-out food, hear gunshots, and witness the miracle of vegetables growing in the urban gardens they help plant through UTN’s urban farming program.

UTN not only helps young people and adults to learn the benefits of nutrition through urban gardening, but while being climate-smart, the organization provides young people with an alternative to the crime that plaques the streets of Chicago. UTN is a 501 © 3 not-for-profit organization that is uniquely situated to change lives.

In line with UTN’s mission, we are hosting With Congressmen Davis Urban Agriculture panel Discussion on Monday, August 19th, 2024, at the Royal Sonesta 71 East Wacker Dr 2:30 to 4pm the Grand Ballroom. We cordially invite you to be our special guest speaker, along with Congressman Danny K. Davis of the 7thCongressional District. In addition, we have asked Congressman Davis to invite Vice President Kamala Harris to appear either in person or by video.

Urban Transformation Network is one of the few African-American-owned urban garden organizations in the city of Chicago that focuses on changing the lives of people.

We partner with many organizations throughout the year and will be partnering with them for the Expo: The Shedd Aquarium, The Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicago Public Schools, the Aetna Corporation, the CVS Corporation, The Chicago Lighthouse (for the Blind and Hearing Impaired), the Ball Seed Corporation, the Bobby Wright Mental Health Corporation, The Habilitative System Corporation, The Chicago Agricultural High School, the University of Illinois – Champaign Urbana – Extension Program, Faith Based Organizations, the local USDA Office, and Purdue University.

We will be inviting the Governor of Illinois, the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois (In charge of the State of Illinois Urban Gardening Program), the Cook County Board President, the Mayor of Chicago, the local Alderperson, State Representatives and State Senator, our Summer Interns, Master Gardeners, and Youth Gardener.

we are the game changer for raising awareness to Chicagoan and the surrounding suburbanites about Urban Gardening, Healthy Eating, and being Climate Smart.
